Session Info

Please schedule your session as far in advance as you can (I usually book out 4-6 weeks in advance), especially if you are desiring a weekend date. I do not shoot on Wednesdays and Sundays and my Saturdays generally fill up far in advance. My newborn sessions are usually scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays while all other sessions are booked on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

A non refundable deposit of $50 is due at the time of booking but I do not charge a penalty for rescheduling and actually encourage you to reschedule if you or your child is sick. I will always reschedule with you if I am sick.

After the Session
Please allow up to 4 weeks for processing. I usually post a sneak peek to my Facebook page and website blog while you are waiting for your session to be fully edited.

Newborn Session Details
I prefer to photograph newborns before three weeks in age when they are still bendy and super sleepy! I will not shoot them over three weeks of age as they are usually too awake to get those sweet sleepy poses. The best time to schedule your newborn session is during your pregnancy.  I will add your expected due date to my calender. When that day arrives give me a call and I will finalize your session date. If you happen to stumble across my site after your baby is born I will try my best to squeeze you in within this timeframe. Don’t hesitate to give me a call with any questions big or small. If possible, schedule your session while still pregnant; the exact day and time will be adjusted according to arrival date.

If you would like to have some pictures taken with a sibling, please let me know ahead of time so I can prep the session to do those photos as soon as you get here. Please arrange to have someone pick up other child(ren) after as the session is far too long for them to sit through.

I provide hats, flowers/headbands and other accessories for newborns, please feel free to bring whatever you’ve got also. I keep the babies naked for the whole shoot, so bringing outfits is not necessary. And please don’t stress about them peeing (or worse) on my stuff. It will happen. And I will wash it. It’s not a big deal, I’m very used to it. I will happily do laundry for the sake of cute pictures.

Newborn session usually take between 3-4 hours. The studio is also VERY warm to keep your newborn happy and sleepy so please wear cool clothing. You can look through my newborn work and let me know if there are specific shots/colors/props you would like in advance so I can have everything set up:

Baby, Toddler & Child Session Details
Baby sessions are done when baby is sitting up on their own (usually in the 6-8 month range). I will not photograph babies (outside of the newborn session) until they are mostly sitting up on their own. This is a great age as they are not yet crawling and able to get away from me. Babies this age are very happy and content and are usually still sporting a cute little gummer smile. The next age that is very popular is one year olds. They are much more challenging to photograph, but I get the best personality shots from this age. It’s great if you can bring a birthday cake for them to dig into at the end when their attention span has left the building. I try to schedule these sessions in the morning or after naptime when they are freshest. Please don’t bring a hungry, sick or tired baby, it’s almost impossible to get any shots out of grumpy babies. I don’t mind rescheduling last minute if your baby is having a bad day.

Toddler sessions are fast paced and I don’t expect your child to sit still so either should you! These sessions are usually a workout for both parents and myself. There isn’t much I won’t do to get that smile or eye contact. These sessions are all about personality, so feel free to bring their favorite items such as a beloved doll, stuffed animal, etc.

Child sessions are great as these ages are usually very bribe-able and I try to create an environment that they have fun in. I have chairs, crates and a wide variety of other unique props to use with this age. My backgrounds are small though, so I typically don’t photograph kids older than 12.

I have TONS of hats, flowers/headbands, petti rompers in many colors, and other props for children of all ages to use and my wardrobe in the studio grows larger by the day.

Baby, Toddler & Children Session Checklist:

*Several outfit changes (bring more and we can coordinate with sets and such when you get here). I also have clothes in studio you are welcome to use (more for girls than boys though).

*cupcakes or a birthday cake for one year olds (*I highly recommend contacting A Cake Storey in Westbrook if you are looking for a special cake to coordinate with your child’s session. She does an AMAZING job!!)

*any cute hats or accessories you have (but don’t feel you have to as I have TONS)

*a snack and a drink (sometimes they just need a little break to keep going)

*a favorite toy from home that makes them happy (sometimes they need something familiar to smile at)

*a favorite book/blanket/stuffed animal

Baby, Toddler & Children sessions are for up to two children but additional siblings can be added to the session for $25.00 each. A few casual family shots can also be added at the end of the session for $25.

I am interested in doing a family/maternity session as well as newborn. I am due on 9/4. We have a two year old so I am looking to do family pictures as well as maternity. I didn’t now if we could do this in one session. Also when the baby comes, I would like to get both kiddos into some pictures. Just looking for some pricing information and if above was possible. Look forward to hearing back.

Also- how do we get the finished pictures? Are we obligated to order prints through your website?ReplyCancel

    Hi Amy,
I fell in LOVE with pictures you did of my friend Tina’s little girl! Just beautiful! She told me you are very reasonable and that sometimes you did sessions with clothing props from Matilda Jane. I wondered when that may be perhaps I would book a time for my little Krystal Rae, and perhaps we could talk about pricing ect. for such a session? Thanks :).

Hi Amy, I came across your website and find your work beautiful! I am pregnant with fraternal boys and due in May. My due date is up in the air but wanted to get in touch now to be on your radar for a newborn photo session. Should I reach back out once they are born?
